Video: Aespa in hot waters for lip syncing at Korea University festival for 50 million won

1. [+356] And this is why you should always be careful about what you say... Ningning got emotional in the heat of the moment and blurted out a lie saying "Aespa does sing live~!" which helped bury their lip syncing controversy at the time (I remember their fans shielding the crap out of them then) but as soon as YouTubers like Sojang and other informational channels started calling them out with evidence of them not singing live at all on stage, their skills were all exposed, especially when they went to the US too ㅋㅋㅋ If only Ningning didn't say that, no one would've cared this much, and they wouldn't be getting as much hate as they are now. It's kind of ridiculous but also unfortunate.
2. [+329] Red Velvet was at Korea University yesterday and they sang live and interacted with the crowd. The reason the students are pissed at Aespa is not only because of the lip syncing issue but because they also had an attitude with the crowd too. They're both under SM but there's a big difference between the groups. And it's not just the bias that "SM groups don't sing live"... Red Velvet even sang live without music at Joongang University in the past.
3. [+336] I'm honestly an Aespa fan... and not that I've ever shielded them but this is something I just can't imagine shielding. If they're truly talented, why not show behind-the-scenes recordings like Red Velvet and NCT do? If you watch their encore stages, they're not even that bad, so why do they not sing live? Or are they refusing to? I personally think Winter's pretty good. Karina's average. Ningning's a bit unstable when you hear her encores and Giselle's raps don't really sound like her recordings... Anyway, I hope they take in this feedback for their next promos and improve in a positive direction.
4. [+195] I was at their Hanyang University performance and was really disappointed with how obvious their lip syncing was.. They only sang four songs and left ㅠ Jannabi performed in the past and they even did an encore before leaving. Aespa just disappeared as soon as they were done.
5. [+262] Need more students like them who think logically like this so that companies don't think they can just rip people off and get away with it. It's unfortunate that people are still willing to support such behavior without reason.
6. [+108] Aespa is really ruining their group's image every time they get up on stage. I've never seen a group from such a big company just continue to sink downhill like this ㅋㅋ
7. [+137] Wow, they're basically dancing to a few songs but getting paid more than what a salaryman is paid in a year ㅋㅋ I'm jealous. I've always been interested in Aespa and have watched their stages since the beginning because I thought they had great songs that would make them a cool group if they could pull it off live. What pisses me off is that they've never once really sang live and yet their fans are praising them in the comments for being good at live..
8. [+60] Aespa has never once since their debut shown off their proper skills and yet have received treatment that they are not deserving of. From now on, I want groups with actual talent in the spotlight. I hope NMIXX and StayC come back with good songs and receive lots of love.
9. [+49] First with Coachella, now with this college festival... do they not understand the meaning of a 'festival'? It's not just some dolled up stage, you have to actually get up there and interact with the crowd, do some adlibs, show some stage manners... that's what makes a real singer.
10. [+87] They're next level in the sense that they're considered "talented" when they've never actually sang live!
11. [+47] They're a group that was perfectly tailored only for the lockdown age
12. [+25] Aespa isn't the only group that lip syncs so they don't deserve the hate for that. The problem, however, is that they go around lying about how they're singing live so their fans hype them up over it and act like they're better than everyone else ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ especially with the SM media play when they were at Coachella... it was hilarious to me how the members were acting so confident in themselves and asking their fans not to feel down about the reviews on their Bubble
13. [+160] IVE was lip snycing at Kyemyung University but it was found that at least Ahn Yoojin was singing live because she dropped her mic during 'Royal' and her voice cracked. IVE must be grateful to Ahn Yoojin... because if they didn't ahve her, they'd be basically lip syncing all of their songs too and getting as much hate as Aespa is.
14. [+39] I've seriously never heard them sing live other than their music show encores
15. [+240] It's hilarious to me that a singer even has the accomplishment 'first live singing' at all ㅋㅋ
16. [+361] I was there at the festival and I was so disappointed, just so disappointed.. The AR was so obvious in real life. I was in a huge crowd so I couldn't see anything and with the AR playing, it basically sounded like someone turned on an Aespa song in the middle of a crowd. Even the Korea University students who got up on stage to sing sang live, how could these singers not feel embarrassed over this?
17. [+49] That's so wrong ㅋㅋㅋ how can you be paid and not sing? Must be so upsetting for the students.
18. [+23] They're barely there performing for an hour and are paid 50 million won for it, what a rip off to not even sing live;;; was this performance really worth 50 million won?
19. [+127] Other groups in SM sing live so why does only Aespa lip sync..?
20. [+136] Makes me wonder if SM is just coddling them too much... I think this is the first time SM has had such a big live controversy, and it's really something they should consider fixing
