#CancelKorea is trending on Twitter among Filipino netizens due to Korean netizens attacking a Filipino influencer 'Bella Poarch' for her 'rising sun' tattoo. Despite her apology, Korean netizens continued their racist attacks, calling Filipinos "small and uneducated". Filipinos refuted the attacks by trending the hashtags #ApologizeKorea and #CancelKorea while also bringing up the two country's intertwined histories.

1. [+482, -18] I'm embarrassed that Koreans are doing this to the Filipinos, something that you'd expect people like the Chinese to do

2. [+229, -5] If she apologized and said she was going to raise awareness about the rising sun design, why not just stay quiet? Why fan the fire and get in the media like this? People are so frustrating.

3. [+120, -10] If we respect them, they will respect us

4. [+31, -0] She admitted that she didn't know about the history of the rising sun and asked for forgiveness, on top of saying that she loves Korea and that she'd help in raising awareness about it. She also offered to get the tattoo erased or covered. Isn't that enough? To all of you hating on her, do you know every little detail about the histories of other countries? People who are still hating on her are sick in the head.

5. [+17, -1] I can see how the design would look appealing to someone who doesn't know the historical background behind it ㅎ but she apologized and offered to erase it, what more do people want? Why make racist attacks? I hope that they don't lump us all in as ignorant Koreans with them...

6. [+16, -1] Man, it's always the people who go around in groups attacking others on the internet in the name of justice who end up embarrassing our country ㅋ

7. [+15, -0] She genuinely apologized, why wasn't that enough? I think some Korean netizens crossed the line on this one.

8. [+15, -2] I'm so embarrassed. Why would you think we are any better than the Philippines when we were both colonized just the same? They bled for us in the 6.25 war and we should be so grateful. Let's not be ignorant enough to look down on them just because our country is living a bit better than them right now.

9. [+14, -1] It's hilarious to me that people who have never even lived under Japanese colonial rule are the first to get so worked up over these issues ㅋㅋ people need to start minding their own business and keep these criticisms within our own country ㅎㅎ this is so damn embarrassing.

10. [+14, -1] As a Korean citizen, I would like to apologize to the Filipino citizens ㅜㅜ please forgive us for any language that caused you hurt~ I'm sure that our country wants to be forgiven. Please let go of your anger. I hope that this post reaches the Filipinos who were hurt in this whole ordeal!

1. [+2,255, -63] Some ignorant people really need to know where to draw the line. As much as you love your own country and people, you need to learn to respect the people and country of others too. How dare you say something like that as someone living in the 21st century? This is pathetic.

2. [+1,421, -27] It's fine that you're offended by the rising sun tattoo but why would you go and make racist remarks about all of the Philippines? Let's please not act like those disrespectful Chinese netizens...

3. [+596, -21] I can see how she wouldn't know if she didn't know our history. She apologized and we should be understanding of that. Remember how we felt when Lee Hyori was being attacked by the Chinese netizens?

4. [+273, -7] We need to all learn to respect each other. We're not the only ones living on this earth!

5. [+72, -8] Filipino soldiers gave their lives to defend us. When Park Jung Hee went to the Philippines to beg for meat soup to feed our starving people, they gave us aid. You all should be embarrassed of yourselves. How dare you think you're better than the Filipinos. Sigh.

6. [+68, -9] Filipinos, I'm sorry... I apologize

7. [+48, -5] There was a time in our history when we needed their aid during the 625. Please learn your history before speaking.

8. [+27, -1] We should not be looking down on the Philippines like this. Who is the ignorant one when Bella Poarch has already admitted to having positive feelings for our country, admitted to not knowing the history, and apologized already?

1. [+404, -6] People who attack others like this just need to have their accounts deleted. They are embarrassing our country. All they had to do was keep their argument about the rising sun but they just had to go and make racist attacks. The only uneducated ones here are the Koreans leaving those comments.

2. [+206, -5] She apologized, the controversy should've ended there. Why cross the line and make racist attacks against Filipinos too? Can we please learn where the line is?

3. [+78, -4] All that matters is that she didn't know and that she apologized... Koreans were wrong to turn this into a racist attack. As a Korean, I apologize. I'm sorry.

4. [+52, -6] Bella can get her tattoo erased and the Koreans who attacked her should apologize. That's it!! I don't care for the rest.

5. [+15, -1] This is an issue with the netizens who made those racist remarks. This should not be a reflection of all Koreans. There are fools like them in any country around the world.
