BTS' international achievement rekindles another discussion on army enlistment exemptions !

Article: "We still remember our small basement rehearsal room..." BTS cries tears of joy

1. [+4,090, -406] Honestly, I'm a man who has served in the army and think that BTS should be given an exemption. They not only promoted our country all around the world but even brought in foreign money... I'm proud of the athletes who have brought us gold medals but BTS is more deserving of an exemption. I wouldn't feel bad about it at all!!!

2. [+882, -35] Hopefully the members stay humble until the very end without any scandals ^^

3. [+584, -17] I'm really surprised at the answers the members give in interviews. Celebrities are usually known for spending all their time as youths in the rehearsal rooms instead of studying so it's really rare to see an idol give answers of this caliber, and definitely not easy either unlike some other idols who are saturating the market right now. It's obvious that the group was put together with cultured and refined people who worked hard together to reach the point that they are now. They're where they are now for a reason.

4. [+357, -16] So proud of BTS, congratulations once again 💜💜💜

5. [+159, -6] Applause!!! Hopefully there will come a day where we can see them perform again...

6. [+105, -8] I don't even know the people who win at these international classic concerts but they get exemptions while a group like BTS that the whole world knows doesn't...? That's just unfair, isn't it? Get rid of exemptions for good or make it fair and give BTS one too!

7. [+84, -3] Soccer players or baseball players earn exemptions just for being on the field for 10 minutes on the basis of national prestige but if we're talking national prestige, what about BTS? They didn't just bring us prestige, they put our country on the map.

8. [+71, -3] Amazing!!

9. [+74, -16] BTS has made such a big economic impact, and 8% of the foreign tourists who visit say it's for BTS (I read this in another article). Sending BTS to the army would be a loss to the country.

10. [+61, -4] How are all of the members so well spoken with deep thoughts? The diction RM uses makes him sound like a professor... they're so different from the other idols. And I can't imagine how much hate they've received from antis that they're crying only now about how they feel that people are realizing their truth... ã… ã…  They must've worked so hard to soar higher and higher the more their antis attacked them. And that's probably why they're crying only now and not back when they were #1 on the 200. I feel bad for them... *pat pat*

Article: Im Jin Mo, "BTS' army enlistment needs to be resolved positively... there is a definite need to discuss it"

Source: E-Daily via Naver

1. [+111, -41] I don't get why popular athletes and celebrities who are healthy and rich should be granted exemptions at all. Unless you're disabled, you should be serving. Or just exempt everyone too, then. Why is their life precious but not the rest of ours?

2. [+98, -41] I remember when politician Ha Tae Kyung talked about this, he was hated on for trying to use BTS for a political agenda, but I think people like BTS, Son Heung Min, and Park Ji Sung have done more than their share of bringing national prestige. I do think this is a topic worth discussing.

3. [+44, -10] I still think they should serve. Go live somewhere else if you can't fulfill your duty to your country..

4. [+52, -21] I think serving in the army will help bring more depth to their music!! Go and take a break!! It will help you be more confident in the rest of your life!!!

5. [+33, -16] Why should they get exempt when they're just working and making money for themselves? ã…Žã…Ž

6. [+18, -7] At least these guys have money. Most men in their early twenties have nothing to their name and still serve. I think BTS should serve.

7. [+9, -0] BTS hasn't said a word, why is it always other people dragging their name into this?

8. [+9, -1] So if you're granted exemptions for being successful in your field of work, what does that make the army? A group full of failures?

9. [+7, -1] They should serve no matter what

10. [+7, -2] I keep seeing fools say that BTS deserves an exemption for spreading Korean culture but the difference is that people like Son Heung Min, Park Chan Ho, and Park Ji Sung and others were out there officially representing our country. BST is not a national team! They were out there to make personal money and ended up being successful. Samsung, LG, and Hyundai are all spreading Korean technology and aiding our economy, should their employees be given exemptions too? Should actors, staff, and managers who are aiding in the production of Hallyu content to be exported to China and Japan be given exemptions as well?
